Nawada

Nawada is a Town and a Municipality in Bihar state of India. It is also the Administrative Headquarters of the Nawada district . Nawada town is situated on both sides of the Khuri River at around 24º 53’ N and 85º 33’ E. Right side of river have old stalemate, while left side is modern & have all offices. Its name is evolved from sanskrit word 'Nau-abad' , meaning the 'New Town' which was earlier known as ‘The Eliot Market (Bazaar)’. It was established as a Subdivision of Gaya district in 1845. Nawada was formed as a separate district from Gaya district on 26th January 1973 & Nawada Town is made as its headquarter.
